THEYFRIEND is a joyful, community-powered festival celebrating the creativity, brilliance, and expansive possibilities of nonbinary performance.
We bring together artists and audiences for a weekend of performance, connection, and collective celebration, and create space for nonbinary people and people of all gender expressions to gather, play, imagine, and belong.

Are you a nonbinary performer, host, workshop facilitator, DJ, or video artist?
We're currently accepting applications for the 2026 THEYFRIEND Festival. Selected artists will receive a stipend and become part of a vibrant cohort of nonbinary creatives helping shape this year's festival experience.

THEYFRIEND Archive
THEYFRIEND began in 2020 as a virtual artist salon featuring five national nonbinary performing artists. In 2021 we established THEYFRIEND as a festival and, since then, have steadily grown to feature a breadth of Bay Area, CA-based, national, and international nonbinary performers at dynamic events in partnership with local queer organizations and arts venues.
