THEYFRIEND is San Francisco’s annual festival celebrating nonbinary arts, culture, community, and creativity.

This year, we’re bringing together incredible nonbinary performers - and we’re inviting you to join the show.

Across four days of performances, parties, workshops, and participatory experiences, THEYFRIEND creates space for people of all genders to play, experiment, connect, and shine. Come celebrate nonbinary artistry, embrace radical joy, and show us what you’ve got.

Some festival events will be free and others ticketed, with events taking place at ADA-accessible venues throughout San Francisco, and on Zoom. Age restrictions will vary by event, with many events at 21+ venues and select programming open to ages 18+.

The 2026 THEYFRIEND Nonbinary Performance Festival is presented by Diamond Wave, a fiscally sponsored project of Independent Arts & Media, and supported by the Horizons Foundation, San Francisco Arts Commission, San Francisco Grants for the Arts, the Trans Arts Response Fund, and the Trans Justice Funding Project .

THEYFRIEND Archive

THEYFRIEND began in 2020 as a virtual artist salon featuring five national nonbinary performing artists. In 2021 we established THEYFRIEND as a festival and, since then, have steadily grown to feature a breadth of Bay Area, CA-based, national, and international nonbinary performers at dynamic events in partnership with local queer organizations and arts venues.
