About the Event

THEYFRIEND kicks off with a special festival edition of Hysteria, San Francisco’s long-running comedy open mic for women and queers!

Since 2015, Hysteria has created a welcoming space for comedians of all experience levels to get onstage, try out new material, and make each other laugh. For this special THEYFRIEND edition, we’re putting out an extra-big welcome to nonbinary and gender-expansive comedians: whether you’re a seasoned performer, comedy-curious, or getting behind a mic for the very first time, we want to hear from you.

The night features J. Dante (he/they), a standup and improv comedian visiting from Parkville, Maryland, whose conversational comedy digs into the weird and hilarious parts of being the bisexual transgender child of overachieving Nigerian Jehovah’s Witnesses.

THEYFRIEND’s Vin Seaman and Rawiyah Tariq join Hysteria host Wonder Dave for this special festival-opening night. Come tell some jokes, cheer on your friends, or just grab a drink and laugh with us as we kick off THEYFRIEND 2026!

Accessibility Information

The SF Eagle is a 21+ bar and performance venue located in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood. The venue is mostly wheelchair accessible, with a wheelchair-accessible restroom and outdoor space. The performance area is elevated and accessed by a set of 2 stairs.

Please note that venue lighting may occasionally produce sudden flashes that may be difficult for photosensitive attendees.

KN95 masks are recommended when not actively eating or drinking, and will be available at the event.

If you have any access needs or requests, please email vin@diamond-wave.org and we will do our best to accommodate you!

About the Artists

J. Dante (he/they)

J. Dante is a mid-30s improv and standup comedian getting a head start on his mid-life crisis. He’s performed on Baltimore stages at the Baltimore Tassel Festival at Fells Point Corner Theatre, showcases at the Baltimore Improv Group, Laugh Tracks at the Club Car, and Locally Sourced Talent at Pitango Bakery. His conversational comedy explores the weird and hilarious parts of being the bisexual transgender child of overachieving Nigerian Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Rawiyah Tariq (they/them/Black woman)

Rawiyah Tariq is a multi-undisciplined artist. This storyteller writes, sings, designs and sometimes dances. Their artistry is expression, expansion and exploration of the world around them. They uplift their self and marginalized peoples living and loving in the intersections of fat, queer, Black, disabled, neurodivergent, and non-binary.

Vin Seaman (they/them)

Vin Seaman is a stand up comedian, interdisciplinary artist, and cultural worker that has been active in San Francisco for 20+ years. Their work exploring queer identity and drag culture has been presented locally at The Stud, Brava, Oasis, the de Young, the Salesforce Tower, Frameline, and (inter)nationally at the Austin International Drag Festival, SATELLITE ART SHOW Miami, Stockholm’s Stolt Scenkonst, Atlantic Center for the Arts, and Yale School of the Arts.
